Meet the Artist: Curtis Francis
Painting Stephen Bechtel
Curtis is the kind of person who sees a problem and builds his way out of it.
He wired his own shop. He built the chicken coop out back. Ask him about either and you'll get the whole story, start to finish, because the making is the fun part.
His art works the same way. Curtis paints in acrylic and colored stain on birch and basswood, in a style that looks like stained glass and stone mosaics. Every piece is part painting, part construction.
He has a simple theory about creativity…
If anyone can cook, anyone can make art.
For Builders + Titans, he's painting Stephen Bechtel, who led one of the largest engineering and construction companies of the 20th century.
His firm was part of the group that built the Hoover Dam, and went on to take on pipelines, power plants, and projects most of us drive past without a second thought.
A builder painting a builder. It just fits.
